At River Oaks Dental, we use technology that includes digital X-rays and intraoral scanners to help us provide our patients with dental care.
Technologies at Our Dental Clinic
The technology we use at River Oaks Dental helps to inform treatment planning and make your dental appointments run smoothly.
Because we can display digital X-rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms, we are able to show you any issues in your mouth as we explain your dental issue and walk you through your treatment plan.
Our goal is to make sure that patients are fully informed about their oral health and to provide each of our patients with dental care. Dental technology helps us do that.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays use digital sensors instead of traditional photographic X-ray film. This technology produces highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums as well as other oral structures and conditions. Digital dental X-rays allow your dentist to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.
Panoramic X-Rays
Panoramic X-rays provide your dentist with a single image of your entire mouth. Panoramic images are flat representations of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures. These X-rays are particularly helpful when planning denture or orthodontic treatments as well as extractions and implants.
Intraoral Scanners
Intraoral scanners create detailed digital impressions, which can often be an ideal alternative to traditional dental impressions. Your dentist simply uses an optical scanning wand to take a digital image of your teeth in just a few short minutes. This device allows your dentist to capture highly accurate data to create digital replicas of the hard and soft tissues in your mouth.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® is an oral cancer screening device that helps your dentist identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualization technology, cancer screening with VELscope can be performed in your dentist’s office during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions in about two minutes.
iTero 3D Scanner
The iTero® intraoral scanner takes highly accurate, 3D impressions of your teeth and bite. This technology allows your dentist to plan your dental treatment in real time, store data digitally and create Invisalign clear aligners.
